• Monday the 10th - Tuesday the 11th

  • Reflect on your score and write down areas of strength and areas of improvement in your notebook.

  • Choose either "This is Water" or "Consider the Lobster" as your subject for your practice rhetorical analysis essay. 

  • Complete your practice rhetorical analysis essay in your notebook. 

• Tuesday the 11th, second block

  • Write down both Lexicon #22: The Absurd and Lexicon #23: Nihilism in your notebook.

  • Watch the video introducing Sisyphus's myth. 

  • Read, annotate, and discuss "The Myth of Sisyphus" by Albert Camus.

• Wednesday the 12th

  • Complete practice argumentative essay on Camus in your notebook.

  • If any time permits, work on your rhetorical analysis essay if it hasn't been completed. 

• Thursday the 13th - Friday the 14th

  • Read, annotate, and discuss "The Worst Friend Date I Ever Had" by Samantha Irby.

  • Take notes on the use of humor in rhetoric.

  • Read, annotate, and discuss "hung up!" by Samantha Irby.

  • Choose one of the two writing options (rant or rhetorical analysis body paragraph) for your writing practice in your notebook.

• Tuesday the 4th

  • Report to the library to complete a practice rhetorical analysis. 

  • Make sure to submit on our Google classroom.

• Wednesday the 5th

  • Read, annotate, and discuss "The World Doesn't Love You" by Trevor Noah.

  • While reading, identify 5 rhetorical choices made by Noah and any purposes he may have had in writing the piece. 

• Thursday the 6th

  • Mr. Roberts will be at a conference today and will not be in class.

• Friday the 7th

  • Take notes on sanctuary cities, their purpose, and what critics and supporters claim about them.

  • Read, annotate, and discuss Mayor Wu's Opening Statement to the United States House Committee on Oversight and Accountability.

  • Complete "Trying on Coates' Style" creative writing assignment.

  • Complete a rhetorical analysis essay of "Letter to My Son" by Ta-Nehisi Coates.

  • Review what to take note of while reading the text.

  • Read, annotate, and discuss "A Good Man's Hard to Find" by Flannery O' Connor.

  • We'll finish reading and discussing "A Good Man's Hard to Find" by Flannery O' Connor.

  • Answer the Discussion Question (found at the end of Monday the 31st) in your notebook.

• Wednesday the 2nd 

  • Write down Lexicon #27: Puritanism in your notebook.

  • Watch the video on the Witch Trial, taking notes on the causes, role of the church, and accusations.

  • Afterwards, we'll go over some essential context of the play and 1953, the time in which it was written. We take close note to how ideological tensions between US and USSR, Puritan values, and gender dynamics set up the play. 

  • Read, annotate, and discuss pages 6-11 of The Crucible by Arthur Miller.

• Thursday the 3rd - Friday the 4th

  • Write down Lexicon #28: McCarthyism in your notebook.

  • Continue reading, annotating, and discussing The Crucible by Arthur Miller (pages 11-22).

  • Mr. Roberts will be out on Friday for a wedding, so use this time to complete any missing work. Remember, term 3 ends on Friday the 4th, but Mr. Roberts inputs grades up until Wednesday the 9th.
